The USB-EVM-C is a USB-to-EVM Host Port interface
adaptor which facilitates communication between a host PC's USB port and the
host port interface of DSP56311EVM, DSP56L307EVM and DSP56858EVM DSP evaluation
boards available from Freescale.
Measuring just 2.5" X 2.25", the USB-EVM-C adaptor
comprises an FTDI USB 1.1 interface chip, an embedded 8-bit microcontroller, a
standard USB 1.1 connector, and 20-pin, dual-row, board-to-board connector
which conforms to the EVM's host port connector which is designated as (J12) on
the DSP56311EVM and DSP56L307EVM, and
(J4) on the DSP56858EVM. Immediately on power-up, the
embedded 8-bit microcontroller monitors data transaction requests received by
the FTDI USB chip and translates the requests into appropriate DSP56xxx host
port protocols for each host port transaction.

The USB-EVM-C adaptor derives its power from the
DSP56xxxEVM power source provided on the host port connector and therefore no
separate power supply is required
The USB-EVM-C adaptor includes board schematic,
standard USB 1.1 cable, and a CD containing both "C" source code and compiled
executable (including required DLLs) for an example test application which
exercises the target DSP56xxx using the host interface.
The example source code is royalty-free and the purchaser may use it to build custom applications.
